KEEP YOUR HOME IN TOP SHAPE

Simple maintenance tips for lasting comfort and durability.

1. Routine Maintenance Matters

As a homeowner, you’re responsible for regular upkeep to keep your home running smoothly. Most tasks are simple—like changing air filters in your HVAC system to maintain air quality and performance.

2. Cleanliness Protects Your Home

Keeping your home clean not only preserves its appearance but extends the life of your finishes. Dust and dirt can damage surfaces like cabinets, countertops, floors, and fixtures, so be sure to use non-abrasive cleaners for safe maintenance.

3. Exterior Care is Just as Important

Check gutters and downspouts regularly to prevent clogs from leaves and debris. While your home’s exterior is built to handle the elements, occasional cleaning enhances curb appeal and helps siding and other surfaces last longer.

4. Understand What Your Warranty Covers

Your Losani home comes with a warranty covering construction and workmanship. However, it doesn’t cover issues caused by neglecting regular maintenance. Some items—like appliances—may have their own manufacturer warranties.

5. Get Familiar with Your Warranty Early

Don’t wait for an issue to arise. Take time now to review your warranty details so you’re prepared and know what’s covered when you need it.

Monthly

The ground fault interrupters (GFI) on electrical outlets. Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Regularly checking GFIs and safety alarms is essential for protecting your home. Simply press the “Test” and “Reset” buttons on each GFI outlet to confirm it works, and test all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure responsiveness—replace batteries annually or units older than ten years. These small steps add a layer of safety and peace of mind to every home we build.

Vacation

Shut off to washing machine and dishwasher.

Arrenge for mail and newspaper pickup. Put selected lights on timers. Arrange to have driveway, walkway, and sidewalk sholveled.

Before leaving, make sure your home is safe and ready for your absence. Check that all windows and doors are locked securely, and set your thermostat to a moderate temperature to save energy. Unplug small appliances and electronics that won’t be used while you’re away. If you have pets or plants, arrange for someone you trust to care for them. It’s also a good idea to let a neighbor or friend know about your plans so they can keep an eye on your property and contact you in case of any emergency.
